KARACHI - Thousands of faithful of the great prophet Muhammad (PBUH) crossed all security barricades and reached the US Consulate for registering their protest against the anti-Islam film; the protestors pulled down the US flag and hoisted flag of Labaik Ya Rasool Allah at the consulate on Sunday.
Law enforcement agencies have completely failed to stop the rally of thousands of faithful moving towards the US Consulate for staging their protest against the anti-Islam film.
Police and Rangers opened strait gun fire at the protestors, which was comprises on women, children, old citizens and youth also, in front of the US Consulate. Even the killing of a protestor namely Raza Raqvi in the indiscriminate firing of law enforcement agencies could not stop the protestors to pull down and burnt the US flag and hoist the flag of Labaik Ya Rasool Allah at the consulate. The clash between law enforcement agencies and activists of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) was started at Mai-Kulachi Bridge and remained continued for more than one and half hour, while the said part of the city was presenting a look of battle that cause injuries also to eight protestors. The leader of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), Mulana Sadiqu Taqvi told The Nation that the indiscriminate firing on the protesters was started on the directives of the DIG Police Mushtaq Mehar. The rally was taken out by Imamia Students Organisation (ISO), Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and other religious groups to denounce the launch of blasphemous anti-Islam film by the US film production. The rally was attended by thousands of people, including women, children, youths, old citizens, while it was surrounded by the huge contingents of Police and Pakistan Rangers. MWM leaders, including Amin Shaheedi, Mulana Sadiq Taqvi and Mulana Baquar Raza led the rally. The leaders of MWM told The Nation that the protestors wanted to present a memorandum against the blasphemous film to the officials of the US consulate peacefully, but the law enforcement agencies turned the peaceful rally into aggressive by badly using state power against the peaceful protestors.
“Police used tear gas, aerial firing and water cannon against the protestors to stop them at already blocked roads leading to the US consulate. Police has shown brutality towards the participants even women and children,’ they said.
According to the spokesman of Imamia Students Organisation the said protester was killed during the clash with the police.
It is pertinent to mention here that in other parts of the country various meetings of protest were held to condemn anti-Islam film, while this rally was the first one that went to the US consulate.
During the rally the participants protested outside the US consulate and pelted the consulate’s building with stones. However police check post was also set on fire during the protest. After killing of a protestor the violent people have burnt five vehicles, including a police mobile. As many as four police mobile were torched, while one of them was set on fire in front of Naw-i-waqt Building.
Speaking at the rally, the leaders of MWM and ISO reprimanded the approach that stimulates filmmakers to make such blasphemous films for hurting the sentiments of Muslims al over the world. They said that the US government is behind the seen that has damaged interfaith harmony across the world.
“The satanic polices of the US government is responsible for all the problems of human being in the world. All Muslims are required to be united against the evil forces. Islam teaches us to respect the ideas and faiths of other religions and thoughts,” they said.
NEXT PROTEST HELD AT NUMAISH CHOWRANGI
After the hoisting the flag of Labaik Ya Rasool Allah at the US consulate, the MWM leaders have asked the participants of the protest rally to straight away finish the demonstration outside the consulate, and gather near the Numaish Chowrangi to observe sit in. The murder of a protestor was an other reason for the rally participants to be gathered at Numaish Chowrangi. Following the directives of the clerics, the protestors immediately gathered at Numaish Chowrangi and observed sit-in. thousands of people attended the sit-in, while clerics of various Muslims school of thoughts have also participated. Some angry protestors were throwing stones at the security officials, and set four police mobile on fire, while the MA Jinnah Road was presenting the deserted look. During the whole protest as many as 15 protestors were arrested by the law enforcement agencies.
Till the file of this report, the sit-in was continued at the Numaish Chowrangi.
